I do love this deodorant, it’s got all good things in and is in a glass bottle not plastic, but I’m not sure that anything much works for me in this weather so I take this in my bag with a black flannel from Boots for a quick wipe and a brush-up and reapplication on a regular basis! Does anyone know of eco friendly underarm pads that you can just stick there discreetly? Foundation. The clue is in the name, the base of your makeup. And how many have I bought over the years (there’s not a brand I haven’t tried)? But just this year I have been totally on it, slavishly (sadly) following my favourite beauty bloggers in pursuit of the perfect foundation. I have always had spots so I guess I’m more worried about the look of my skin and I need a smooth, natural looking finish but still with a bit of coverage and one that makes me look 15 years younger 😂. Is that too much to ask? Yes! Too flaky, too chalky, too pale, too orange, too greasy, too irritating and now, just way too chemical. I don’t want to put crap on my face any more. But finally, last week at the fabulous @beautybytahirauk and @_tryingtobeamum_ beauty afternoon I met the foundation of my dreams! @ereperezcosmetics about as low in chemicals as you can hope for - blissfully smooth, creamy and silky Oat Milk foundation, so,so good (my colour is Chai). Just a little request - why not put in a glass pot please? My test, my skin looked the same when I got home as it did when I left in the morning with no irritation at all. A new take on the king of vegetables, my beloved watercress! I’m not sure if this is a good idea but for those that can’t get on with the peppery loveliness of watercress this may well work. Packed with antioxidants, folate and DNA repairing properties this is a must for all my clients, especially men. It also makes a delicious pesto, try blending a bunch with walnuts, olive oil, garlic and Parmesan or Pecorino or nutritional yeast if you are vegan. I love tomatoes but sometimes they don’t taste great from supermarkets so I try to buy them from the market on our road. But I ran out and went into M&S and bought these and they are really delicious! UK grown and organic, called Vine Ripened Rosa Tomatoes. Packed with lycopene and vitamin C. Just a shame about the plastic wrapping as usual. It says keep them in the fridge, no way -M&S you are wrong! Tomatoes lose their flavour if chilled so put them in a pretty bowl and just eat them. I confess I have loved my little plastic zipper bags for everything and I do wash and re-use them but they are not BPA-free. So regretfully they have to go when I finally wash the last one! So it was great to find this. And the packaging snob in me is very happy with the look! Small companies like this fight for shelf space with huge multi-nationals who couldn’t care less about gender-bending chemicals or the environment. Such a lovely afternoon talking about getting rid of as many of those gender bending, earth-destroying chemicals from our make-up and food as possible, with these gorgeous girls @beautybytahirauk and @_tryingtobeamum_ held at the very stylish @hunter.collective. Lots of warmth and laughter and just being able to try on make up on a Saturday afternoon brought me straight back to Biba when I was 14, ha just shows my age 😂. I bought a lovely light silky foundation and lip balm from @glow_organic, drank a delicious G&T from @eastlondonliquorcompany, followed by a @juicebabyuk turmeric and orange juice while I demolished most of the falafels and aubergine dip from such a talented chef @theconscientiouscook. And heaps of thanks to the wonderful @barebiology and @greenpeopleuk who sent me lovely samples of their brilliant products for our goody bags.
